Bangladesh vs Australia: Bashar Says No Special Plans Needed
Bangladesh Chief Selector Downplays Need for Special Tactics vs Australia
Bangladesh’s Test team is flying high with a wave of confidence and consistency rarely seen before. Players believe this is the strongest Test squad the nation has ever produced. But the next challenge is monumental: a two-match Test series in Australia.
This series is part of the ICC World Test Championship, which has prompted Australia to take Bangladesh very seriously. Several top Australian cricketers have skipped The Hundred or taken breaks from white-ball cricket just to prepare for the Tests against Bangladesh.
Adding to the task, Australian conditions are notoriously tough and unfamiliar for the touring side. However, chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon maintains that preparation is the key to success.
Early Arrival is Key
He said, “It would be very good if we can go there a bit earlier. That will help us adjust to the conditions better. And honestly, every Test team is strong now. Pakistan are also a very good Test side. Except for maybe the teams near the bottom of the rankings, the teams within the top six or seven are all very competitive. Playing Test cricket against any of them is a huge challenge.”
Bashar emphasized that this is not uncharted territory for Bangladesh, even if Australia is the top-ranked Test side.
Focus on Natural Game
“Australia are probably the number one team right now. Playing against them in their own conditions is always more challenging. But it’s not like we’ve never played Australia before, or never faced these bowlers or this kind of opposition,” he said.
The veteran selector issued a calm, confident message: “We don’t need to do anything special. If we can simply play our best cricket, I believe we can challenge Australia.”
Bashar’s remarks suggest that the focus for the Tigers will be on execution rather than gimmicks. With the right preparation and unwavering belief, Bangladesh truly does seem ready to take on the best in the world on their home turf.
