The International League T20 (ILT20) has introduced new regulations that mandate the inclusion of players from Afghanistan and Ireland in franchise squads, a move that has generated considerable apprehension among the league’s six teams. As per the 2026 Player Contract Model document, franchises will be required to recruit a minimum of four players from Afghanistan and one from Ireland into their squads from the 2026 season onwards. Furthermore, the playing XIs must include a minimum of two players each from Afghanistan and the UAE, and one player from an Associate nation.
