Bangladesh Secures Victory Over Netherlands
Bangladesh rode on Dilara Akther’s 51 as they beat Netherlands by 13 runs in a rain-affected game in the women’s T20I tri-series in Edinburg.
Dilara smashed a half-century off just 22 balls – the fastest by a Bangladesh batter in women’s T20Is – to help her team post 98 for 3 after the match was reduced to an eight-overs-a-side contest. Her 26-ball knock had eight fours and two sixes. Alongside opener Juairiya Ferdous, she added 42 runs for the first wicket off 21 balls, before sharing a brisk 40-run partnership with Sobhana Mostary.
Netherlands’ Chase
Netherlands – who registered their first ever women’s T20I victory over Bangladesh last week – got off to a flying start, thanks to Heather Siegers (21 off 15) and Babette de Leede (30 off 14). The pair added 53 runs off 28 balls for the opening wicket but Fariha Trishna’s double strike in the fifth over dented Netherlands’ chase. Robine Rijke chipped in with a cameo of 21, however, Ritu Moni struck twice in the eighth over to restrict Netherlands to 85 for 5.
The final score was Bangladesh 98 for 3 (Dilara 51, van den Raad 1-16) beat Netherlands 85 for 5 (de Leede 30, Trishna 2-20) by 13 runs.
