Travis Head and Virat Kohli‘s On-Field Drama Steals the Show

The IPL 2026 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday night delivered everything fans expect from a high-voltage contest. It was a high-scoring contest, along with a high-drama moment between Virat Kohli and Travis Head.

SRH Defeats RCB by 55 Runs

SRH defeated RCB by 55 runs after posting a massive 255/4 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan made 79 runs off 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma smashed a quickfire 56 off just 22 balls. Heinrich Klaasen added late fireworks with a 24-ball 51.

But after the match, attention quickly shifted to a tense interaction between Virat Kohli and Travis Head. A viral video showed Kohli greeting several SRH players, including captain Pat Cummins, but seemingly walking past Travis Head without shaking hands.

Virat Kohli-Travis Head Intense Banter

The tension between Virat Kohli and Head did not begin after the match. Throughout the game, cameras repeatedly captured animated exchanges between the two players.

During RCB’s chase of 256, Kohli appeared visibly fired up while batting alongside Venkatesh Iyer. At one point, Kohli gestured towards Head and seemingly challenged the Australian batter to bowl.

Travis Head Responds in Style

However, Head eventually responded in style. Surprisingly brought into the attack late in the innings, the Australian part-time off-spinner dismissed RCB captain Rajat Patidar, who had scored a fighting 56 runs off 39 balls. It was Travis Head’s first IPL wicket in nine years and only his second overall in the tournament.

Earlier in the night, Virat Kohli had celebrated aggressively when Head was dismissed for 26 during SRH’s innings.

Travis Head’s 4-Word Instagram Story

The intense moment between Kohli and Head became the talk of the match. Later on, after the game, Travis Head posted an Instagram story with the caption – “Keep The Body Guessing.”

Though Head did not directly mention Kohli or the handshake incident, the timing of the post led many fans to believe it was connected to the on-field drama.

RCB Secure Top-2 Finish Despite Heavy Defeat

Despite losing by 55 runs, RCB managed to secure a top-two finish due to their superior NRR (+0.783).

RCB, Gujarat Titans, and SRH all finished the league stage on 18 points, with NRR deciding the final standings. RCB’s strong NRR helped them finish at the top of the table for the first time since 2011.

It is important to mention that RCB will next face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on May 26 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. On the other hand, SRH will play the eliminator match on May 27 (opponents not confirmed yet).
